Essential Duties and Responsibilities Drive a city vehicle in all areas of the City. Short duration stops in traffic. Performs condition assessment of fire hydrants and valves. Exercise fire hydrants and water valves. Assist field crews with clean up post water main and service line breaks. Perform Flagging and traffic control. Performs maintenance to utility equipment and defective meters and meter boxes. Use an iPAD to track and document field inspections. Work outside in all types of inclement weather. Be available to come in 24/7to assist others during emergencies. Qualifications Basic mechanic skills/knowledge. Knowledge/experience in construction. Excellent customer service experience with the general public. Basic computer and keyboard skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively on teams. General knowledge and ability to interpret maps, drawings, and records. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety procedures, work rules and guidelines. Possess excellent verbal, listening and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able and willing to work overtime (including nights and weekends). Required to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis. Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license by date of hire. Must have and maintain a good driving record by City Standards. Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment flexibility test and physical capacity test, we do this during the final interview process. Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test.
We are looking for a Limited Term Drinking Water Maintenance Worker. You'll perform a wide variety of water maintenance-related tasks, primarily in a training capacity. Tasks include the repair and maintenance of equipment, facilities, utility lines, etc. Work is often strenuous and repetitive and is performed on the basis of clear instruction or direct supervision.

This position is a limited term position that will last to the end of 2020.
Other Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs. and engage in considerable pulling, pushing and climbing. Work is done mostly outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Common hazards include traffic, underground lines, chemicals and equipment. Individuals must have adequate hearing and visual acuity to successfully perform the essential job functions and requirements of the position. Individuals must be able to hear, speak and understand verbal communication and other outside sound sources. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This is a represented position. This position is identified as a limited term, the following definition applies: Hired for no more than three years. Employment status is exactly the same as regular employees and receives all the same benefits with three exceptions: Position is at-will for the duration of the limited term assignment Has a specific end date in which their employment with the City will terminate.
